| Customer Reviews: Best solution on the market April 17, 2010 When I needed to equip my mother's house for wheelchair access I considered all options; given that Mom still gets out quite a bit we also had to make plans for visits to relatives who were not wheelchair accessible. I look at permanent construction and many other portable solutions. None were anywhere near as flexible, and all were from twice as expensive to many times as expensive. I was worried that the 10' length would not accommodate enough elevation - but it easily handles a 4 riser set of stairs (not at ADA recommended slope, but well enough that it is no problem for one person to get the chair and passenger up or down). The two-rail system accommodates any size wheelchair (we use both a light, portable one for trips and a full sized for around the house).
Since Mom spends winters in one place and summers another, this also means we don't have to come up with two systems.
Only drawback - collapsed, the rails won't fit in a car trunk. But with a bungi cord to hold the lid down, they work fine for short trips across town.
wheelchair ramps July 2, 2010 snob they work well. i would like an option to lock them out at a specific length. one of the ramps lock out is bent so it doesn't stay securely closed.
